Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings in Status Epilepticus: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Status epilepticus (SE) is a neurological emergency in which prolonged seizures require rapid diagnosis and treatment. It classified as convulsive, non-convulsive, electrographic patterns. Neuroimaging findings associated with status may raise suspicion of ischemia, encephalitis, or neoplastic lesions possibly leading to additional studies surgical Further follow-up imaging prevent unnecessary intervention due be reversible. Case Report: We report case convulsive electroencephalography cranial magnetic resonance (MRI) discussing differential diagnosis. Conclusion: Our highlights that SE should aware this potentially fatal condition start the treatment immediately.

Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in nonconvulsive status epilepticus.
BACKGROUND In human and experimental models, diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) findings in status epilepticus (SE) have been reported to show that apparent diffusion coefficients are reduced during the initial phase and normalized or increased in the later phase of prolonged SE. This effect is caused by cytotoxic edema induced by excitotoxicity. In humans, only focal DWI abnor...

We recently experienced a case with asymmetrical cortical abnormality on MRI with focal status epilepticus following severe hypoglycemia. The cerebral blood flow and metabolisms for oxygen and glucose were determined using positron emission tomography (PET) during focal status epilepticus following severe hypoglycemia and at the follow-up period. Prolonged seizure activity produced profound glu...

The nature of the relationships between status epilepticus, acute hippocampal injury, mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS) and temporal lobe epilepsy remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate whether generalized status epilepticus is associated with brain abnormalities, especially in the mesial temporal lobe, within 5 days of the acute event. Such changes may be the first part of a c...
